Go-Ride Clubs

Go-Ride is an initiative that integrates club development and structured coaching activities for young people into a single programme.

It can be delivered through clubs or schools. Below is an outline of the benefits your club will receive and what your club needs to do to become Go-Ride Clubmark Accredited.

Go-Ride is British Cycling’s Club Development Programme that incorporates Sport England’s Clubmark Scheme. Clubmark is a cross-sport quality accreditation for clubs with junior sections.

If your club registers as working towards Clubmark, the process will take a few months, but you will be supported every step of the way by our Regional Development Teams.

What does your club gain from becoming Go-Ride Clubmark Accredited?

· Publicity - club details on British Cycling Website and help with event promotion.
· School Links - to encourage more youth and junior club members.
· Ongoing Support - from a network of Regional Managers and Go-Ride Coaches.
· Resources - including; a Coaching Kitbag, Go-Ride Gears books 1-4.
· Training - for coaches, club officials and other volunteers.
· Free Silver Membership - for up to 7 nominated Club Officials.

What does your club need to register?

· British Cycling Affiliation.
· A suitable area to run coaching sessions.
· At least one Qualified British Cycling Coach.
· A Club Contact willing to have his/her details published.
· Club Welfare Officer (training to be provided by British Cycling).

What commitment does your club need to give?

· Deliver regular coaching activities through a British Cycling qualified coach.
· Forge close links with local schools to encourage children.
· Willingness to working towards Go-Ride Clubmark Accreditation.

Registered Go-Ride Clubs in the South East Region

Bedgebury Forest CC
Bedgebury Forest Cycle Club works in partnership with the Forestry Commission to promote cycling to all ages and abilities. With a number of Level 2 cycling coaches, we provide basic and intermediate cycling courses, using the natural forest environment.

With a mix of coaching within a dedicated, specialist training area and guided rides using the extensive singletrack trails, Bedbgebury Forest Cycle Club provide an excellent, fun environment within which to learn new skills. New dates are being added all the time, so please regularly check the club website www.boarsonbikes.co.uk for the latest dates and other events.

VC Deal
VC Deal are based near Dover. The club has an active youth section and they hold regular club events at their club house. You will see VC Deal youth riders competing and riding across the SE.

Preston Park Youth CC
Preston Park Youth Cycle Club is Brighton and Hove's only cycle club specifically for young people. They run a programme of activities throughout the year, weekly from March to October and fortnightly in the winter months at Preston Park cycle track, where most summer sessions take place.

Team Darenth
As a BC accredited Go-Ride centre we exceed the standards of coaching and care required to take young riders further. Parent or adult coaches and helpers are always welcome. We're delighted to be a successful club that's widely known for organising MTB, Cross and Road Racing events.

Sutton CC/De Ver Cycles
This is an accredited Go-Ride Club for youngsters under 18 - adult members are Coaches, Officials or Parents. In addition to Saturday morning Go-Ride activities at its base in Cheam, the Club encourages racing and provides training in various disciplines. It also links with other Go-Ride Clubs to provide a wider range of activities for members.

VC Jubilee
Go-Ride activities include under qualified coaches guidance the Skills Test, designed to test cycling skills, and the Talent Team Tests which are part of a groundbreaking initiative to find and develop future World and Olympic Cycling Champions.
